Vacuum Cleaner
Turning a daily cleaning task into a physical game children can choose to join.
The project combines a modular vacuum cleaner, phone fixture and augmented-reality game into one physical-digital system. Cleaning movement becomes gameplay: the cleaner acts as a spaceship while dust enemies appear through the phone.
01
From household friction to play.
Parents can struggle to involve children in routine housework. The project turns that tension into the starting point for a game driven by cleaning movement.

Problem · Research
Housework competes with the activities children already want to do.
The research reframed cleaning from a task that requires repeated reminders into an activity that can create participation and a sense of achievement.
Solution · AR game
The vacuum cleaner becomes the spaceship in the story.
Children clean the floor to attack generated dust enemies, collect materials and continue the game through a connected forging mode.

Vacuuming game
Clean, attack enemies and collect materials and experience points.
Forging game
Turn collected materials into equipment for the main spaceship.
02
Shape first. Then test it by hand.
Form exploration moves from broad silhouette studies to more resolved handheld proportions before foam models test what the sketches cannot show.

Draft models
Foam studies checked hand feel, proportion and the simplest viable form.
Physical studies turn the sketch wall into something that can be held, compared and simplified before 3D definition.

03
Physical form × digital prototype.
Product form, phone-based AR and physical play tests develop together so the experience can be evaluated as one system rather than separate objects.

APP prototype
A playable mobile AR prototype built with Unity and Vuforia.
The prototype connected the phone experience to the physical vacuum model so the interaction could be tested as a real combined system, not only as interface screens.

04
One vacuum. A complete play-and-clean system.
The final concept links cleaner, phone fixture, storage and three suction heads so physical configuration directly changes how the AR game is played.

Final product system
Three cleaning tools become three different AR weapons.
Floor, bed and flat tips support different cleaning situations; the selected suction head also changes the weapon represented in the game.

Configurations
Storage, handheld use and swappable heads are read together as one product architecture.

Usage scenarios
Mount the phone. Start the game. Let cleaning movement drive the interaction.
The phone fixture keeps the screen in the physical cleaning experience while enemies, attacks and rewards appear through AR.

Product Gallery
Final photography shows the product as a complete object: its components, stored configuration and full floor-cleaning stance.

06
From login to play to progression.
The mobile experience moves through story setup, daily tasks, physical tool selection, AR gameplay and forging rewards as one continuous loop.
APP experience
Story, task, tool choice and gameplay remain connected to the physical cleaner.
The sequence is grouped by intent so the relationship between game progress and the physical cleaning action is visible at a glance.
Each suction head represents a different cleaning situation and a different AR weapon, linking the tool mounted on the vacuum to what appears on screen.
01
Onboarding & story
Enter the experience and establish the game narrative before cleaning begins.

02
Home & tasks
The home planets, profile and task structure turn progress into something visible between play sessions.

03
Choose a tool. Change the game.
Selecting a physical suction head changes the gameplay mode and the AR weapon represented on screen.

04
Forge what you collected
Materials earned while vacuuming continue into a forging library, closing the loop between cleaning and game progression.

Cleaning becomes the controller.
A graduation project connecting industrial design, a physical prototype and an AR game into one continuous interaction.
